Change the rules.<\/h2>\n<p>What Apple has done is removed themselves from the fracas over being forced to turn over private data to the Federal government, just because they ask for it. \u00a0Remember, we found out earlier this week that <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150206074039\/http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/technology\/us-threatened-massive-fine-to-force-yahoo-to-release-data\/2014\/09\/11\/38a7f69e-39e8-11e4-9c9f-ebb47272e40e_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yahoo\u00a0was threatened with a $250,000 a DAY fine<\/a> for not turning over data, even though Yahoo\u00a0was challenging the legality of the order in court. Here\u2019s how they did it:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The key is the encryption that Apple mobile devices automatically put in place when a user selects a passcode, making it difficult for anyone who lacks that passcode to access the information within, including photos, e-mails and recordings. Apple once maintained the ability to unlock some content on devices for legally binding police requests but will no longer do so for iOS 8, it said in <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150206074039\/http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/technology\/apple-will-no-longer-unlock-most-iphones-ipads-for-police-even-with-search-warrants\/2014\/09\/17\/2612af58-3ed2-11e4-b03f-de718edeb92f_story.html\">the new privacy policy.<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Apple said the way to fix the problem is to remove themselves from the equation.
